Post Cycle Therapy (PCT) Guide: What to Know After a Prohormone Cycle
Finishing a prohormone cycle does not mean the planning stops! Post cycle therapy, usually shortened to PCT, is the recovery phase that follows a prohormone cycle. The goal is to support the transition off-cycle while addressing areas such as natural hormone production, estrogen management, liver support, cardiovascular support, libido, and maintaining the muscle and strength you worked to build.
The exact PCT approach depends on what you used on-cycle. A 1-Andro or 19-Nor product does not have the same estrogen profile as a 4-Andro formula, and a single-product cycle is different from stacking several compounds together. Why does that distinction matter? Non-estrogenic does not mean non-suppressive. A prohormone may not convert into estrogen through its primary pathway and still affect natural hormone production! We cover several examples in our Non-Estrogenic Prohormones: 5 Products to Compare guide.
What Is Post Cycle Therapy?
PCT refers to the period after a hormonal or prohormone cycle when the focus shifts away from the cycle itself and toward recovery.
Androgenic compounds can affect the body’s normal hormone signaling. Research on anabolic-androgenic steroid exposure shows reductions in luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, and endogenous testosterone during use, with recovery after stopping varying considerably from person to person. Duration of use, dose, number of compounds, age, and other individual factors can all influence recovery.
That’s why there is no single PCT formula that automatically makes sense after every cycle. PCT products are generally formulated around several areas of support:
- Natural testosterone and LH support
- Estrogen management
- Libido support
- Liver and antioxidant support
- Cardiovascular support
- Prostate support
- Maintaining training performance and muscle during the transition off-cycle
Please note: PCT supplements should not be treated as a replacement for medical evaluation or blood work. Recovery after androgen use can vary significantly from one person to another and may take weeks, months, or longer.
Why Does PCT Matter After a Prohormone Cycle?
Different prohormones follow different hormonal pathways.
1-DHEA / 1-Andro follows a 1-testosterone-related pathway.
4-DHEA / 4-Andro converts toward testosterone and can contribute to estrogen conversion.
19-Nor compounds follow a nandrolone-related pathway.
Epiandrosterone follows a DHT-related pathway and is generally used in non-aromatizing formulas.
If you want a deeper explanation of those differences, our Prohormone Compounds Explained: 1-DHEA, 4-DHEA & More guide goes through each pathway in more detail.
Those differences affect both what happens while you’re on-cycle and what kind of support may make sense during and after the cycle.
For example, Hi-Tech products containing aromatizing 4-Andro may call for estrogen support during the cycle plus Arimiplex afterward, while non-aromatizing products such as Trenabol still call for PCT even when a separate on-cycle estrogen blocker is not needed.
PCT vs. Estrogen Blocker: What’s the Difference?
These are related, but they are not the same thing.
An estrogen-control product is focused primarily on managing estrogen or aromatase activity. Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals Arimistane is an example of a targeted product built around arimistane.
A PCT formula usually covers a wider range of needs.
Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals Arimiplex combines estrogen support with ingredients aimed at testosterone and LH support, liver support, cardiovascular support, prostate support, and libido.
This distinction becomes especially important with an aromatizing cycle. We recommend Arimistane during the cycle and Arimiplex afterward for Hi-Tech products such as Anavar and Androdiol because their formulas contain 4-Andro compounds that can contribute to estrogen conversion.

What Should You Look for in a PCT?
Rather than choosing a product because the label says “PCT,” look at what the formula actually covers.
Testosterone and LH Support
Coming off a suppressive cycle puts more attention on the body’s own hormone production.
PCT formulas commonly use ingredients such as fenugreek, tribulus, vitamin D, D-aspartic acid, or other testosterone-support compounds. Different formulas approach this part of PCT differently, which is one of the biggest differences between a basic PCT and a larger stack.
Estrogen Support
Estrogen management becomes especially relevant when the cycle contains compounds that can aromatize.
Arimistane, also listed as androsta-3,5-diene-7,17-dione, appears in both Hi-Tech Arimiplex and Blackstone Labs PCT V. Both products combine it with additional ingredients rather than treating estrogen support as the entire PCT.
Liver and Antioxidant Support
Cycle support and PCT are not exactly the same thing, but there can be overlap.
Ingredients such as N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) and milk thistle commonly appear in formulas aimed at liver and antioxidant support. Arimiplex includes milk thistle as part of its liver-support complex, while PCT V includes NAC.
For more dedicated liver support, Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals Liver-RX is built specifically around milk thistle, NAC, alpha-lipoic acid, schisandra, and additional liver-support ingredients.
Cardiovascular and Prostate Support
Hormonal support may get most of the attention, but comprehensive PCT formulas often go further. Arimiplex includes separate cardiovascular and prostate-support complexes. PCT V includes saw palmetto alongside NAC and its hormone-support ingredients. That additional coverage is what separates a more complete PCT formula from a standalone testosterone booster or estrogen-control product.

Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals Arimiplex
Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals Arimiplex is one of our main PCT options for Hi-Tech prohormone cycles. Rather than focusing only on estrogen control or testosterone support, Arimiplex combines several areas of post-cycle support in one formula.
The formula includes:
- Prostate Support and DHT Inhibition Complex with saw palmetto, NAC, pygeum, and stinging nettle.
- Testosterone and LH Support & Aromatase Inhibitor with arimistane, fenugreek, and tribulus.
- Cardiovascular Support with ingredients including pine bark extract and grape seed extract.
- Liver Support built around milk thistle extract.
For someone who wants several parts of PCT covered in one product, Arimiplex keeps the post-cycle plan well-rounded.
Blackstone Labs PCT V
Blackstone Labs PCT V keeps post-cycle support efficient with a five-ingredient formula:
- Tribulus terrestris
- Saw palmetto
- N-acetyl cysteine
- Arimistane
-
5-alpha-hydroxy laxogenin
Together, those ingredients provide support for estrogen management, testosterone support, prostate health, antioxidant support, and maintaining muscle during the post-cycle transition.
We recommend PCT V after several Blackstone Labs prohormones, including products such as Chosen1 and AbNORmal. For a lighter or more approachable Blackstone Labs cycle, PCT V covers the main areas of post-cycle support without moving into a larger stack.
Blackstone Labs Ultimate PCT Stack
For someone who wants more testosterone support than PCT V alone provides, the Blackstone Labs Ultimate PCT Stack combines:
- Blackstone Labs PCT V
-
Blackstone Labs Apex Male
PCT V covers the core post-cycle areas, including estrogen management, prostate support, antioxidant support, and muscle retention.
Apex Male adds a stronger emphasis on testosterone support with ingredients such as vitamin D, D-aspartic acid, bulbine, fenugreek, tribulus, maca, DIM, and mucuna.
Together, the two products give the Ultimate PCT Stack a full spectrum post-cycle approach than PCT V on its own, especially for users who want more emphasis on testosterone support.

What About Liver Support During the Cycle?
This is where it helps to separate cycle support from post-cycle support. A supplement such as Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals Liver-RX is focused specifically on liver and antioxidant support rather than hormone recovery. Its formula includes milk thistle, NAC, alpha-lipoic acid, schisandra, and other liver-support ingredients.
Blackstone Labs takes a similar approach with Gear Support, which combines NAC with hawthorn, grape seed, saw palmetto, red clover, and additional organ-support ingredients.
The key difference is timing and purpose:
Cycle support is aimed at helping support organs and other health markers while you are using the prohormone.
PCT is focused on the transition after the cycle, including hormone and estrogen support.
Depending on the cycle, those two types of support can work together, but they are not interchangeable.

Do Non-Estrogenic Prohormones Still Need PCT?
Yes, they can! This is one of the easiest parts of prohormone planning to misunderstand.
A supplement that does not convert into estrogen can still affect natural hormone production. That’s why non-estrogenic and non-suppressive do not mean the same thing.
For example, Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals Trenabol follows a non-aromatizing 19-Nor pathway, but we still recommend Arimiplex for one month after a standalone cycle.
Blackstone Labs Chosen1 follows a non-aromatizing 1-Andro pathway, but PCT V is still part of the post-cycle recommendation.
Our Non-Estrogenic Prohormones: 5 Products to Compare guide goes deeper into the difference between estrogen conversion and suppression.

How Long Should PCT Last?
There is no single PCT timeline that should automatically be applied to every cycle. For many of the standalone prohormones we carry, one month of PCT is the standard recommendation after the cycle is complete.
The exact plan can change depending on:
- The prohormone used
- Whether multiple products were stacked
- Cycle length
- Whether the compounds aromatize
- The PCT product being used
- Individual recovery
For example, our Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals Trenabol Guide recommends one month of Arimiplex after an 8- to 12-week standalone Trenabol cycle.
Follow the directions for the individual products in your cycle rather than assuming every prohormone and every PCT should be used the same way.
What Happens to Training During PCT?
The goal during PCT is not to stop training. It is to give your body enough support to maintain as much of your progress as possible while you transition off-cycle. Energy, strength, recovery, and motivation may not feel exactly the same as they did during the cycle, which makes consistency especially important.
Rather than suddenly pushing more volume, the post-cycle period is usually a better time to focus on:
- Maintaining strength
- Staying consistent with training
- Getting enough protein and total calories
- Prioritizing sleep and recovery
- Avoiding dramatic changes in diet or training volume
The goal is to hold onto the muscle and performance you built while giving your body time to normalize.
